Escort

Anybody ever had any experience with or hear anything about the Escort Semi-Auto shotguns? Price looks reasonable, looking at getting a synthetic 12ga, they have it chambered in a 3.5 and 3.. Buds has the 3.5 for $433 and the 3" on closeout for $388, comes with M IC C&F chokes.Looking for something fun to shoot some clays with and occasionally go pheasant hunting with...Should I spend the extra $$$ and get a 3.5" or with a 3" do?http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product...oducts_id/86054

The 3.5 would best be used for ducks from what I understand. Three inch will kill a pheasant and both with kill clays.

The 3" is plenty. I've been shooting ducks for 40+ years and shoot 2 3/4" shells. The biggest Goose (14#) I ever shot was with a 20 ga. 2 3/4" shell at 20 yds. I've got Escort pump shotty's that I use for Home defense and they work fine but I fortunately don't have to use them. The Escort is a field grade gun and not meant for the high volume shooting of clay's. IMHO I think they are made in Turkey.

When buying a shotgun it is REALLY important to know how the gun feels before you buy. That's something you can't do when you mail order a gun that isn't common on local shop racks. Go to a gunshop and mount a couple guns that are in your price range. You'll be better off spending an extra hundred dollars on a gun that you can hit with than getting a screaming deal on a gun that doesn't fit.
