Bought a new to me rifle

You did real good . Congrats
  2. I love those flite control wads . They really work well provided you shoot them in an open choke . Guys try to shoot them in a ported or full and they are terrible then. That’s a great load . I would like to see it at 50 yards.

    New coyote rifle

Load up some lead Bergers and go kill some coyotes👍

    Non lead for coyotes ?

Another great factory round that I had great luck with is heavyshot geese loads in B shot. They are a round pellet unlike the t dead coyote shot that looks like welding slag.

I don’t know when the cutoff is , but you can get better shotgun performance with Heavy shot on coyotes. Double your effective range. And as long as the shot is wrapped your barrel won’t suffer.

    22mag

I love a 22 mag. I rebarreled a ruger 77-17 to a 22 magnum. Seriously will light matches at 50 yards. I killed quite a few coyotes with it. That v max in 22 mag is serious coyote medicine. ( I tried all other bullet types.) the 77-17 didn’t work for coyotes, they would usually run off . Yours looks like a dandy.

    And so it began

The weight is a drag for sure . I carry a shotgun full of tss shot and a rifle to my coyote stands. Made a 4 mile loop the other day . Add some dog leashes , it’s a boat full.
  10. I just started reloading Heavy shot and tss shot for coyotes. Not much good load data available for both. Thank goodness for Dabob ‘s help . I have tweaked a load I got from Ballistic products that was way too hot. I double checked everything with them and it was correct. I backed off the minimum load by 5 grains of powder and it shot very good. Also added a Mylar wrap and removed a couple #2 bbs to even out the shot card. Also changed brands of buffer to presision spherical. Now the load shoots real tight and even.

    Reloading shotgun shells

My latest goal would be to load a 13 gr. Oz tungsten shot in a 2 oz load.

    Heavy Tungsten

A great coyote load I used several times is heavyshot goose B” shot loads . The pellets are at least round even though it’s 12 gr. Oz.

    Reloading shotgun shells

5 grains is a lot. Using longshot powder. That amount put it more in line with hogedons site recommended loads.
  14. Hi folks . I finally bought a new shotgun for predator hunting. This gun came with all the features I want on a coyote gun. Large capicity, 3-1/2" capable,22"vent rib barrel ,drilled and tapped for a rail if you desire.( comes with the rail ) . Fiber optic bead and multiple adjustments for stock fit. Remington pro bore choke system. on to the gun. It is a gas gun , so it shoot extremely soft.3-1/2" feels like a heavy 20 gauge. Doesn't care what you feed it , it shoots. Big chargingl lever, big release button. Won't pick up a round unless you hit the button to do so. Can unload out the feed slot ,which I like. Patterning the gun I shot what I have been shooting for coyotes. Federal heavyweight bb, heavyshot b- 3-1/2" , Winchester varmint bb, and dead coyote 3" . Distance patterning was 50 yards. Suprising to me , it shot them all very well. The xfull extended choke I bought for the gun was way too tight(.670) . The factory flush full at .700 was even squeezing too much . Modified was a very nice full pattern with an average of 6-8 pellets in the 10" circle at that distance . Overall I would rate this gun at a 9 out of 10. The only drawback is it feels a bit heavy. Could be the extended mag. I do like that though as I am from the old gvmt hunter school that we double tap every coyote with a shotgun. 3 coyotes will have you digging in your pockets. I like that it shoots well enough with just a bead ,as I like the more simplistic approach to a shotgun.

Mine was a ruger 77 17 that I bought a green river fluted 22 mag barrel and put on it. It will light matches out at 50 yards.

    Tss shot

Thinking of taking up reloading shotgun shells. How available is TSS shot to buy? I see there is some made by IBX , but it’s only 13 gr./ vrs tss is18 . I think the old federal heavyweight shot was 13 . Dead coyote shot is about 11 I think. Trying to avoid buying it on alibaba , direct from the Chinese . That site seems a little scetchy.

    Tss shot

I bought some IBX extreme #2 shot that is 13 gr. Also bought some tss #3 shot from Hal Abbott. Waiting for all my components to get here to try my luck . Quite the procedure on the tss.

I have killed a lot with a 22 mag. Not so much luck with the 17 .
  20. They are a great caller. Only problem I have is they are not compatible with a Mac computer to move stuff around. Unfortunately , I have parked mine and still run the ole foxpro and minaska.

Those are aics, and will not fit any tikka. Will work in a 243 or 22 250 in an aics platform.
  22. Talked with the folks over at Apex ammo on the potential of some coyote loads with tss. They have some out being tested now. I emailed them also about how they are patterning ,but haven't heard back. I know the boys over at MFK are testing for them. I tried to get some to test ,but no reply.

    Remington versamax tactical review

no problem Bob. I guess I'm an outlaw as it holds 8 I think. I never seem to have that many shells , so I usually use about 6. As you well know ,you can easily use that many on a couple coyotes sometimes.
  24. I showed my warden who hunts with me and he said he thought that 10 shots was the limit.
